The Role
As the Debt Collections Team Leader, you will spearhead a small team and report directly to management. Your primary focus will be on managing complex debt collection issues, requiring a strategic approach and legal acumen. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supervising a team of two debt collectors, providing guidance and support to ensure effective debt recovery strategies.
  • Handling escalated debt collection matters, particularly those involving legal action, and liaising with external legal entities as necessary.
  • Reviewing debtors’ records, prioritizing cases, and determining appropriate actions for collections.
  • Ensuring accuracy and completeness of debtor information through thorough reviews and utilizing database management systems.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to optimize debt recovery efforts while adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Making recommendations for legal action when full payment cannot be secured through negotiation.
  • Processing payments and maintaining accurate records of financial transactions.

Applicant Requirements:
We are seeking a candidate with a proven track record in complex debt collection and supervisory experience ideally.
 
Key requirements include:

  • Extensive experience in debt collection, demonstrating a deep understanding of industry practices, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to navigate challenging interactions with debtors professionally and confidently.
  • Strong leadership abilities, resilience, and problem-solving skills to address complex debt collection issues effectively.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously within a team environment.
