SEEK Job Market Trends: June 2025 – Job Ads Rise Across All Categories

June 2025 Job Market

SEEK JOB MARKET TRENDS:  There’s finally a lift worth noting in this month’s SEEK Job Market Report with every single job category seeing a rise in job ads, compared to May. While year-on-year comparisons remain mostly flat or slightly down, an across-the-board monthly increase is an early positive sign for both job seekers and employers.

Job postings:  Month-on-month the June report allows for some cautious confidence as a seasonal bounce, or early signs of hiring reactivation, possibly on “catch-up”.

  • Accounting: Modest rebound from May, but volumes remain slightly behind April and last year. Hiring remains steady but conservative.
  • Admin & Office Support: Month-on-month recovery is encouraging, though still not back to April’s peak.
  • Legal: Consistent growth continues, suggesting slow and stable demand in the sector.
  • Human Resources: Up from May, but lower than April – employers may still be hesitant to expand internal teams.
  • ICT: Noticeable month-on-month lift, though still down year-on-year. Tech hiring may be stabilising after early-2025 softness.
  • CEO / GM: Low volume, but growth continues in line with typical executive cycles.
  • Sales: Stronger numbers this month, though some job ad activity likely continues on alternative platforms.
  • Manufacturing & Transport: Strongest-performing sector in volume. While still below April’s peak, it shows consistent demand. (Note: April 2024 figures were not tracked — year-on-year comparison unavailable.)

What does this mean for you:-

For Employers

  • Now’s a good time to capture talent.
  • Make roles attractive – make growth, culture, flexibility, and stability key levers.

For Jobseekers

  • June’s job lift means more opportunities are out there, particularly in Sales, Admin, and Transport.
  • Be proactive – the improving market could be a window for moving before competition ramps back up.

June’s numbers are a welcome change from the flat or falling trend of the past several months – but as always, context matters. While short-term growth is promising, the job market’s overall recovery remains fragile and patchy. The second half of 2025 will likely reveal whether this is the start of sustained momentum, or just a mid-year pulse. Keep watching!
